Reser's Oregon All-Star Series Returns to Goss Stadium.June 12, 2012
Top 6A & 5A Senior High School Players Showcased June 16-17
The Corvallis Knights are hosting the Reser's Oregon All-Star Series again at Goss Stadium in 2012 after launching the event last year to rave reviews and drawing nearly 1,100 fans in total attendance.
Formerly the State-Metro Series (which was wildly popular for decades in The Dalles, Oregon), the Reser's Oregon All-Star Series features the state's top 6A & 5A high school players in a three-game series.
This year's All-Star Series gets started Saturday, June 16 with a doubleheader starting at 1 pm and concludes with a single-game starting at noon on Sunday, June 17.
Last year, the North swept the series behind the pitching and hitting of Jace Fry of Southridge High School.
Fry earned Reser's All-Star Series MVP honors and went on to star with the Knights in the summer of 2011 and last spring with the Oregon State Beavers.
Current Knight Austin Hamilton (North Salem) of Linn-Benton CC was the South Most Outstanding Player in the first Reser's Oregon All-Star Series at OSU's Goss Stadium.
This year's roster features current Knights' infielder Tyler Campbell of Lake Oswego High (pictured), a signee of Vanderbilt of the SEC.
Carson Kelly of Westview, a future Knight, is also slated to compete if the Oregon commit does not sign. Kelly was recently selected in the MLB June draft by St. Louis in the second round.
Other MLB draftees that are scheduled to appear at the Oregon All-Star Series are Roseburg pitcher/catcher Josh Graham, an Oregon commit who was picked in the 22nd-round by Minnesota; and Lucas Hunter of Central Catholic who was chosen in the 31st-round by the Miami Marlins. Hunter has committed to University of Portland.
Graham is playing for the Klamath Falls Gems of the West Coast League this summer.
